No, I'm not talking about a near-invisible scuff--there is a raised rectangular region about 3 mm x 4 mm in size on one end of the rack. It is only a tiny bit raised above the surrounding wood, but it is visually quite obvious against the white paint. It is as if there is a chunk of plastic embedded in the wood. Not worth sending it back, considering that shipping to Canada cost more than $20, but definitely disappointing. 2) The paper template is ever so slightly inaccurate, enough that the second screw could not be inserted into its slot. Throw the template away and make your own measurements or you'll have to make a second set of holes, as I had to. 3) There is a black "Umbra" sticker (decal) on the back of the rack. When you have the screws nicely snug, this sticker is pressed fairly hard against the wall as you slide the rack into place. Unfortunately, the sticker leaves... Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Nice Coat Rack, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Umbra Flip Wall-Mount Multi Hook, White (Kitchen) I read the other reviews before I ordered it.My rack also came with 2 slight dents but overall it you can't really notice them unless you are really looking up close at the rack. Overall it was easy to install. I did not use the paper templet. I used a tape measure and a level. There are two holes in the back of the rack that the wall screws insert into. My only complaint is that the holes are 12" apart. The wall studs are 18" apart. I was able to place one of the mounting screws into one of the wall studs but the other screw I had to use a drywall anchor. I would not recommend using the included drywall anchors as they are very cheap and small and would not hold very much weight at all. Instead I used a larger drywall anchor I purchased at Lowes that has a weight rating of 75lbs which is more than enough. This coat rack is staying put on the wall! It's a really slick looking rack. I really like that the hooks flip up and down, but I've found that we have so much hanging on it that they're never flipped up. I didn't have any trouble installing it at all; it came with a paper template which was really nice (because most things that install with screws like this just leave you to your own devices, meaning it ends up crooked and with 5 holes drilled in the wrong place...). It looks really nice hanging by the door in our apartment! |
