Prior to owning these hangers, I owned attractive looking wood hangers which I've since given away. Although the wood hangers were attractive to look at, they took up a lot of closet space and my clothes would inevitably slide off of them. These velvet hangers have solved both problems.

These hangers are narrowly shaped so they take up less space. And the velvet material grips onto the clothing so they don't fall off while they're hanging on the rod.
But that nice grip-factor can be problematic, too, when I go to retrieve an item of clothing. Instead of sliding off easily like with wood hangers, the clothes cling to the velvet material causing me to fling the hanger off the rod and onto the floor. This has proven frustrating many a mornings, but that's the trade-off with velvet hangers. I just have to remove them more slowly next time.
